Long Term Search Engine Optimization Strategies

by Viveck Sharma

When it comes to what works in the search engines, you will be bombarded with a lot of suggestions, you can even read various articles, news, and views over this same topic.

The best way to stay on top rank is to make little changes on a monthly or weekly basis. These minor changes can fetch you high rank but they are not full-fledged ways.

So the question here is what´s a person supposed to do to get great high search engine rankings?

The answer is simple. Shift your focus from little things like tweaking your keyword density, or changing your meta tags. And focus on bigger factors that are going to matter long term.

Fortunately, there are a few basic principles that you can apply and can even help you weather the storm of constantly fluctuating search engine algorithms. Those methods have worked for years, and will work for the foreseeable future too.

1.  Go for the best Content Writing

Shift the focus of your website on having really good and engrossing content. If you´ve read some of my previous articles, you´ll come to know that I continually harp on the importance of having good content. Well, the obvious reason is that the search engines want to rank the websites that have the best and quality content. Also, people and other websites will naturally link to great content. Give the search engines and people what they want that is a good quality content. Try to avoid a quickly thrown together crap, and if you hire content writers, make sure they know the subject matter they´re writing about.

2.  Frequent Updates

Make point that your website is frequently updated. This means not only going in and tweaking what´s already on your website, but having a steady stream of new and fresh content flowing into the website.

3.  Get Quality Links

Try to build up your links. You should always seek out quality one way links for your website. Whether you´re using article marketing, directories, or press releases, be proactive in getting new, quality, and fresh links to your website. As soon as you start focusing on long term optimization methods, you´ll find that your rankings will improve. And this is happening by making little changes every time you read about what the search engines are favoring that particular month. Your content will always rise to the top over time without you needing to frequently mess with it.
